Fundraising Events
Fundraising Events are a great way for your school, church, team, PTA or group to raise money. Reading the words fundraising events may conjure up pictures of glamorous dressed-up philanthropists at galas in New York City or Beverly Hills but fundraising events encompass so much more than just those star-studded galas and parties.
Fundraising events can be anything from a car wash or pancake breakfast to the previously mentioned expensive dinner events where patrons pay-per-plate for an evening to help your organization raise money.
To decide what type of fundraising events are right for your group, consider your area, your group members and the people you know. What would your potential supporters enjoy and value and want to give up their hard earned money for?
One way you can find this out is to do a bit of market research - have your group members voice their opinions and ask their friends and neighbors what kind of event they would pay money to be a part of. Low-key fundraising events like a pancake breakfast or chili cook-off fundraiser can be tremendously successful if those are things your supporters like and get behind. If your neighborhood is very health-conscious, those carb-laden fundraising events may not be the best idea.
Here are a few ideas for fundraising events:

Be creative - fundraising events can really be whatever you want them to be.
Here are some tips to make your fundraising events a success:
Planning is paramount. Fundraising events can be a huge success, fun for the guests, profitable for the group and memorable for all but they can also be a stressful flop. To make sure your fundraising events are not flops - plan, plan, plan. Choose carefully what you will do, and who will do what to make it happen. Delegate various tasks pertaining to your fundraising events to people who you know will follow through. Utilize different group member's strengths and make sure to follow up with people so there are no surprises or loose ends not taken care of.
Involve everyone - whether its in selling tickets, getting sponsors, decorating, setting up, cleaning up, baking, cooking, posters, graphic design, telephoning - involve every member of your group in the execution of your fundraising events. This makes a huge difference in your success. If everyone participates, you have a much greater chance of a great fundraiser with large funds raised.
Publicize it. Fundraising events that are well attended create excitement and encourage people to spend money and support your cause. Publicize in any way you can think of. Use local media, newspapers, radio, television, if you can, online social media such as twitter, facebook, and other resources to hype up your fundraiser. Pre-sale tickets so you can get an idea of the level of interest in your fundraising event so you know how much work you have to do. Even if fundraising events are beautiful and well organized, if no one is there to donate money - the fundraiser can't be considered a profitable fundraising success. Make yours successful by publicizing for as much time as possible leading up to your event.
